From Wikipedia: SuperMemo (from "Super Memory") is a learning method and software package developed by SuperMemo World in Poland from 1985 to the present. It is a practical application of the proposed spaced repetition learning technique that has been proposed for efficient instruction by a number of psychologists as early as in the 1930s. The authors of the learning method, and lead programmer of the software, are dr Edward Jacek Gorzelańczyk and Piotr Wozniak. It took me so long to get my hands on this, I need to share it. It works great to learn stuff.
Just read about this in a 1-year old issue of Wired. Got interested because right no, I'm trying to learn Japanese and I seem to forget what certain words mean as my list grows. The article made it seem like the perfect tool for the job.

And thank you so very much for this wonderful software that is so hard to find for download. I am just starting medical classes, and I am learning at least 95% of the material though Supermemo databases I am making myself and I am at the head of my classes (anatomy and medical terminology). It is kind of an older version (actually a quite old build of the 2006 edition), but works fine in most respects.
Actually I think I'll just go ahead and buy the software, even though I basically never do that, considering how they are saving my ass at school it seems like an affordable enough price.
